Cue was bred by us here at Zayenah. She is a naughty, wonderfully cheeky girl who keeps us entertained with her sweet purrsonality.
Instead of being spotted Cue displays the recessive classic pattern. Originating from the American Shorthair used in our breeds creation, this recessive gene can be carried for many generations (for Cue 8 generations on her mother’s side & 4 generations on her father’s side). There is no test for pattern, so while we can study pedigrees we cannot always know exactly which cats carry the genes until a classic kitten appears, both parents must carry it to produce the classic pattern. While still registered as an Ocicat and allowed to be used in breeding programs, the classic Oci cannot attend cat shows in Australia.
Classic Ocicats are said to assist with creating larger spotting in their offspring. Cue’s suitors are unlikely to carry the classic gene, so all her kittens will likely be spotted.
While unable to be a show cat Cue happily attends the Adelaide Animal Expo with us, proudly showing her Ocicat swirls to the large crowds.
Colour: Chocolate classic (OCI B 22) carrying cinnamon & dilute Sire: CCCA CH, GDGCH Chezami Azazel Dam: Zayenah Some Like It Hot DOB 11/02/2018
Bridget was bred by us here at Zayenah. She is a beautiful, playful girl. Bridget is a classic patterned Ocicat, see the description above under Cue’s name for details on classic Ocicats. Bridget’s suitor is unlikely to carry the classic gene, so she should only produce spotted kittens.
